BACKGROUND: Patients with localised scleroderma receiving aminolevulinic acid (ALA)/methyl aminolevulinic acid (MAL)-photodynamic therapy (PDT) were noted to show a reduction in skin tightness, suggesting that this therapy reduces skin sclerosis [1].
