Your contribution to the SRF helps to fund the next vital next steps in scleroderma research. |
Consider which of the following methods of giving will provide the best advantages for you and your charitable goals. Be sure to check with your financial advisor for the most current information on which of these giving options will provide the best tax advantages in your case.
Gifts of Cash
Simple and easy tax deduction
Your check or credit card donation is tax deductible for the full amount (up to 50% of your adjusted gross income). And don’t forget, you can give online right here, just CLICK. It’s as easy as that.
Gifts of Stock
Tax savings two ways
Appreciated stock donations provide tax advantages in two ways. You can avoid capital gains tax on your earnings by making a charitable donation of the stock (provided you have owned the stock for a required period). And, you can take an income tax deduction for the full market value of the stock at the time of your gift. See below for instructions on donating stock to the Scleroderma Research Foundation.
Gifts of Life Insurance
For a charitable deduction now
By donating a life insurance policy—and designating the SRF as owner and beneficiary—you can take a tax deduction for the current cash value of the policy. If you decide to continue paying the premiums, you can deduct those payments each year as well. Your life insurance agent can give you the details.
Planned giving options to discuss with your advisor
The many choices in planned giving offer significant financial benefits while supporting your charitable goals. In fact, planned giving techniques and programs can provide you
with greater control over your assets by directing portions of your estate that would often go to taxes to the SRF instead.
Ask your advisor about charitable remainder unitrusts, charitable remainder annuity trusts, bequests, estate plans and other options.
Payroll/Workplace Giving
The SRF participates in the Combined Federal Charities campaign for federal and state employees. We are listed under the Health & Medical Research Charities of America Federation, code 0200. You can give through a payroll deduction in this way.
Matching Gift Programs
Check with your employer
Many corporations will match charitable gifts made by individual employees. For cash gifts, and sometimes gifts of stock,
why not double your contribution by asking your employer if they offer a Matching Gifts Program?
