13th Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine raises more than $1,000,000 for scleroderma research

Comedians "Stand Up" for 13th Cool Comedy - Hot Cuisine; a benefit for Scleroderma Research on March 26, 2004

Tim Allen, Rodney Dangerfield, Jon Lovitz, Bob Saget, and Robin Williams were among the extraordinary collection of comedians who took to the stage earlier this spring for the 13th Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA to benefit the Scleroderma Research Foundation.

Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine is the SRF’s flagship fundraiser.  It is an evening of world-class comedy and gourmet food that, since its inception, has raised millions of dollars for scleroderma research and received nationwide media exposure for the disease.

Led by Saget in his sixth appearance, each comic icon performed live on stage for one of the most unique charitable events of the social season. Musical guests John Rzeznik and the Goo Goo Dolls began the evening with a rare acoustic performance.

The evening’s “hot cuisine” included a sumptuous five-course feast prepared by celebrity chefs and renowned Los Angeles restaurateurs Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken, television’s “Too Hot Tamales” and chef-owners of L.A.’s award-winning Ciudad and Border Grill restaurants (Las Vegas/Santa Monica).

Guests were seated among stars from the worlds of television, film, sports, politics, music, and business. A live auction featured exclusive packages including tickets to Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville, Florida; two private jet charters for 80 guests to Las Vegas; a Hollywood package complete with ‘walk-on’ role on NBC’s Will & Grace; a magnum collection of extremely rare wines from Napa Valley’s most respected vintners; and more.

At the conclusion of the evening, more than $1,000,000 was raised for scleroderma research at leading U.S. medical institutions such as Dartmouth, Duke, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Ohio State, Stanford, UC San Francisco, and others.

The Foundation is planning Cool Comedy events in additional U.S. cities.  Check this site for details as dates become available, or call 1-800-441-CURE for more information.
