In every corner of the nation, special fundraising events take place almost daily. What makes an ordinary event a truly special occasion? At the Scleroderma Research Foundation, we believe it is the blending of an important cause with imagination, innovation, and the unique opportunity to make a major difference in the quality of human life.

Cure Advocate Events

The SRF and its ever-growing group of national Cure Advocates have produced hundreds of events promoting scleroderma awareness and have raised millions of dollars for critical disease research.

Over the past two years alone, the Scleroderma Research Foundation’s Cure Advocates have raised over $240,000 to support the Foundation’s vital research programs, and continued to educate thousands of people about the disease. In the process they have shared countless smiles, tears and a passionate commitment to help raise awareness and the funds necessary to find a cure.

Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine

Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine is the Scleroderma Research Foundation’s flagship fundraising event. The annual gala features several courses of epicurean delights and attracts some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. Since its inception in 1988, Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine has raised millions of dollars for groundbreaking research and has offered an unparalleled opportunity for increasing scleroderma awareness.

Over the years, the “Cool Comedy” portion of the evening has included live performances by such stellar comedians as Dana Carvey, Rodney Dangerfield, Ellen DeGeneres, Arsenio Hall, Jay Leno, Dennis Miller, Bob Saget, Lily Tomlin, George Wallace, Robin Williams, the late John Candy and many others.

The “Hot Cuisine” is, in a word – Astounding! Celebrity chefs Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken (the Food Network's Too Hot Tamales and owners of the award-winning Border Grill and Ciudad restaurants) have been with us since the beginning to create mouth-watering memories that have guests begging for recipes.

Press coverage of Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine has included pieces on Oprah, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, and various network news programs, as well as print coverage in national newspapers, People Magazine, In Style Magazine and other leading periodicals and scientific journals.

Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine has become synonymous with big name stars, celebrity surprises, and scleroderma awareness.

On March 26, 2004, the Foundation hosted its most successful Cool Comedy fundraiser at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. In one magical night, more than $1,000,000 was raised to fight scleroderma.

On November 8, the SRF will debut its New York Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine in the special boutique setting of Caroline’s Comedy Club.  This event will be the opening night gala for the 2004 New York Comedy Festival and feature headlining entertainment with gourmet cuisine. All proceeds from the opening night show will benefit the programs of the Scleroderma Research Foundation.
